Encaustic Rubbing Sample

4x4 Sample Encaustic Rubbings

On this page, you can purchase a small sample rubbing and view available color options.

Oprah Winfrey commissioned Jamie to hand-carve a stone slab in Jerusalem marble, depicting her favorite oak tree on her Montecito estate near Santa Barbara, California—an estate she calls “The Promised Land.”

The full-size encaustic rubbings are created from the carved duplicate study of this tree.

This listing is only for the 4x4 sample rubbing, which is designed to give you a clear idea of the color of the wax, the texture and color of the Kozo paper and its fine fibers, and NOT the quality or detail of the full size Encaustic Rubbings of the entire tree, which is 500 times more detailed.

About the 4x4 Sample

• Made with the same archival Korean Kozo paper used for the full-size rubbings
• Created with the same encaustic wax colors
• You can choose from 16 available colors, and ask for the 4 new colors not shown.
• The sample features a different carved design (not the highly detailed original oak tree), but accurately represents the color of the wax paint ONLY, and feel of the paper ONLY. The wax paints are not burnished into the paper with heat as the full Oak Tree Rubbings are and the reason they are only $20/ includes shipping USPS.
• Samples are not signed, numbered, or part of the limited edition
